Penon ASOS+X is the cable I’d throw at the feet of cable skeptics to challenge the myth all cables sound the same. Few cables can explode stage dimensions, deepen bass, boost dynamics & improve resolution the way this one does, I struggle to think of another cable under $1000 that affects IEMs this much.
For those of us hardcore enough to believe performance is everything, a cable like this is mana from heaven which may well inspire other cable manufacturers to follow suit.
I compared the 12 wire ASOS+X to the 8 wire ASOS+ extensively, and to my ears adding 4 more wires boosts performance in a way that absolutely justifies the extra weight & cost. If you’re deciding between the two – don’t. Just get this one and deal with the extra weight, because your ears will thank you.
Both the ASOS and the ASOS Plus are top notch players, they go one step farther to get you and your listening times one step closer to what you want. I’m not about to say the ASOS Plus will work with every IEM, every DAP or Ear-tip on earth, but that is the way it’s going. The direction is simple, add more wires and get a bigger sound, add the Purple plug and both ends of the cable and get a richer thicker sound than what the standard ASOS can do. And it’s not dark, only better separated and denser which brings with it a feeling of a less cluttered soundstage with more directness of focus clarity. They make every IEM different and different in a better way.
These are the uber ASOS cables. Stage enhancing is one aspect in every direction but due to the addition of the Palladium plated plugs. It makes them sound like a much more higher end refined cable overall. Better technicalities is a given but it’s just the grand presentation of the sound that gets a boost. Whatever IEM you own that can sound better with added stage and dimensions, note weight and space. Well here you go. ASOS+X trump card is exactly this. Not too many cables have the stage enhancing element quite like the X here. And it has the technical chops to go with it as well. They seem to magnify what you’re hearing with a dimensional element that you would never guess that comes from a cable.
