Elegant, dynamic and incredibly natural sounding, Penon’s Volt sets the standard for musical communication in my experience. Sound is always engaging, the even balance and superb bass are perfect for rock and pop; the rich mids and articulate treble a classical music fan’s dream.

The sound of the Volt is that unmistakable smooth warmth and richness in tone. Musicality can be described as just how engaging a sound can be and the Volts turn this factor up a few notches from their previous offerings. The Volts remind me of the tuning a bit more from Penons own Spheres more so than the Orbs. The even tonal balancing is in full force here and you can clearly tell they took a fine tooth comb in balancing out the sound for the Volt.

The Volt is a singular IEM for it features a sublime top end extension with blazing fast transients on top of that full bodied, smooth and organic signature. This is a particular taste of organic that is very resolving and refined with great separation, air and detail retrieval all presented in a natural way. If you’re looking for flagship performance at a reasonable price and you like full bodied, smooth signature with strong bass foundations, impressive resolution and treble refinement then you’d miss out not adding the Volt to your list.

Volt is lmost a “money is no object” attempt at sonic success. It’s simply an IEM that you can place into your ears and arrive at one with the music, as you seem to be just slightly closer to what the musical message is intended to be? At the same time there is also a distance, a way of hearing all your files, because the Volt makes all your music interesting and fun. Such an IEM personality is likable. The Volt makes friends with every cable (pretty much) you have, all the sources you have, and your whole music library.

Penon Volt EST has flagship qualities from design, the build, the tuning and the reliability. If you’re into vinyl hi-fi you should have a pair of Volts in your collection.
The Bass – The dynamic drivers handling the bass are huge in scale, control is good, so is decay, extended, proper rumble and texture. From the tuneful sub bass all the way to the lower mids, this set does not disappoint. There’s a certain uncoloured versatility when bass is reference tuned.
The Midrange – are fluid and engaging. There’s a hypnotic charm to it. The killer trait.
The Treble – Early on its release, there was a lot of comments the treble was not enough. Maybe not exaggerated enough. For folks that are treble sensitive, but require genuine timbre, crisp, extension, sparkle – an excellent degree of timbre realism is on board.
