The PENON Archangel is more than just Penon’s latest flagship — it’s a culmination of technical know-how, tuning maturity, and collaborative design, all wrapped in one of the most complete tribrid packages available under $800.
With massive stage presence, insanely refined bass, and a uniquely neutral yet musical tuning, Archangel sets a new benchmark for Penon — and may very well be the best hybrid they’ve ever released.
It won’t be for everyone — it doesn’t chase warmth or lush coloration. But for those seeking precision without sterility, detail without fatigue, and stage without distortion, Archangel delivers a sonic experience that’s as pure as it is powerful.
Highly recommended for listeners who value space, texture, realism, and cohesive neutrality — with enough tuning switches to tailor the experience when needed.

When I tried the Archangel straight out of the box the day it came in, my thirst thought was: ‘OK, this definitely belongs in the ‘fun’ sound signature category!’. But after I gave it around 50-100 hours of burn-in time and listened to it for some extended time later on, I became aware that there was much more to the tuning of this iem than the ‘fun’ factor alone. It also performed technical on quite a high level, while using a slightly warm and emotional seductive approach. Archangel is an impressive cross-over between being a good allrounder (I liked it a lot with most genres) and being a specialist (most impressive lows that I’ve ever heard so far) at the same time.

With all the above stated the Archangel is a technical bass IEM. Meaning there is heard extra impact in the bass frequencies. When I first got the Archangel the 2 tuning switches were set for standard, yet this extra bass was still giant and forward enabling this extra bass stage that held with-in its grasp a dynamic large bass imaging pronouncing the musical lifeforms that exist there, naming drums and bass. These tuning switches allow for either a boost (when on) of both the bass and the treble. After burn-in I found the bass to smooth out and become more integrated. Where due to balance now the mids took even more of the show, while still proclaiming their flat non-boosted or pulled back approach. Where the treble enabled an entertaining more cutting (in a good way) demeanour way of procuring the foundation for treble imaging.
