Often I have used food to go one step further into describing an IEM, but I’ve never used food to describe a cable. The Penon Totem cable to me is bread, yet not ordinary bread. But it sounds like Fresh Baked Bread, that was taken out of the oven, then sliced at put back into the oven to make toast. So the sound is incredibly fresh like newly baked bread, yet there has been a new process where each piece has an edge, an edge of strength and firmness, that’s on top of this buttery forgiveness, ultimately softness. There is this doughy pliable easygoingness surrounded by the toast which is the texture on top. As the cable is both higher in detail but also forgiving and never too bright or too dull.

Totems’ ability to infuse every IEM with a greater sense of precision, manifested in raw technical performance is substantial by the standards of any cable on the market.
This will especially benefit earphones that are naturally warm & in need of sharpening or tightening up, but every IEM I’ve paired Totem with has demonstrated improvements.
Factor in the superb ergonomics by flagship cable standards, swappable 2pin/MMCX and 2.5/3.5/4.4mm connectors, and tuning plugs for tweakable tonality and you have a compelling package.
I’ve waited years to hear this cable despite owning the Totem Interconnect & Totem USB-C cable for some time, and it has absolutely lived up to the hype of other reviewers and my own expectations.
Quite simply this is the best cable Penon makes and the easiest to recommend.
